We are pleased to announce that the Governor's Clean Energy Challenge launched on March 27, and splashed right into some great press coverage through the Boston Globe, the Boston Business Journal, and Mass High Tech!

We are extremely proud to have helped develop and to direct this program - which supports businesses in reducing their carbon emissions by at least 10 percent by 2012 - on behalf of the New England Clean Energy Council. (To find out more, feel free to click the Challenge logo to the left. We encourage MA-based businesses to step up and join!)

While at Greenbuild, Laura and Helen were lucky enough to meet Van Jones, enviro-hero, social equity activist, founder of Green For All, and all-around Millville Partners hero. Van's new book, The Green Economy: How One Solution can Solve Our Two Biggest Problems, was just released, so we were lucky enough to have him sign our copies. Massachusetts Legislature Makes Huge Leaps in Support of Clean Energy, Supported by New England Clean Energy Council

In the legislative session concluded on July 31, House Speaker Sal DiMasi, Senate President Therese Murray, and members of the House and Senate — working closely with Governor Deval Patrick, Secretary Ian Bowles, and members of the administration — enacted the most comprehensive set of laws in the nation to promote clean energy solutions and accelerate our region’s clean energy economy.

These policy initiatives, encouraged and supported by the New England Clean Energy Council, will have a tremendous impact on the local development and commercialization of clean energy technologies, and will help to make Massachusetts a paragon of clean energy innovation and thought leadership.

The bills passed include the Green Communities Act, the Oceans Act, the Clean Energy Biofuels Act, and the Global Warming Solutions Act. Also of significance are the recent Decoupling Order and the formation of Commonwealth Solar. Read coverage of these remarkable legislative achievements in The Boston Globe.

According to Nick d'Arbeloff, Executive Director of the New England Clean Energy Council, "Taken together, these represent a tidal wave of forward-thinking policy initiatives that will position Massachusetts as a clear leader in the drive to confront and address the energy challenges facing our nation and the world as a whole."
